Advanced Materials Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)

The University of California San Diego MRSEC Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program provides full-time summer undergraduate research opportunities at the forefront of materials science and engineering. Participants in our highly collaborative and interdisciplinary program, which focuses on predictive assemblies and engineered living materials, will be fully immersed in the research laboratories of the MRSEC faculty from 5 departments across campus (Chemistry and Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, NanoEngineering, Physics), as they engage in projects with a focus in either or both experiment and theory.

English Language Institute

Our English Language programs are developed for students who have high-beginning to advanced English proficiency. We offer general English programs with structured skill-building and high-interest conversation, as well as academic English, and English for specific purposes. Our 4-week and long-term English programs are CEA-accredited. Students can stay in on-campus housing during July and August.

Engineers for Exploration Research Experience for Undergraduates

HEDS 2023

The goal of the Summer School is to introduce new talent to the breadth of the U.S. High Energy Density Science (HEDS) community through lectures, engaging workshops, and discussion sessions with leaders in academia and the national laboratories.

The summer workshop-in-residence at IGCC, known as the Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Boot Camp, gives participants the knowledge and analytic tools they need to contribute to the debate on future U.S. nuclear policy.

PATH Summer Academy

A 5-week residential program that provides academic transition designed for transfer students from San Diego Community College Districts (SDCCD) to UC San Diego. Students in this program are admitted to majors in Arts & Humanities. This program is intended to enhance the academic performance of SDCCD transfer students, as well as optimize their transition experience. The program offers an immersive experience in campus resources and a credit-bearing course.

Sally Ride Science Junior Academy

The Academy offers science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) workshops for students, in which they assume the roles of space explorers, ocean engineers, computer scientists, and more as they take part in hands-on projects.

SD IRACDA Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program

San Diego IRACDA fellows direct a SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship) Program for students underrepresented in science. The SURF program is an exciting 8-week research internship for San Diego City College students to work with an IRACDA Postdoctoral fellow on an ongoing research project and participate in weekly professional development workshops led by IRACDA fellows.

SDNI REU Summer Program

2024 SDNI REU Summer Program students will perform a research project in the field of nanoscience/nanotechnology in a state-of-the-art laboratories under the supervision of a UCSD Faculty and mentor.
